The CASA Child, Adolescent & Family Mental Health organization provides specialized educational development addressing mental behavioural challenges with a low student-to-teacher ratio and high involvement from family members. While there are a number of other clinics and schools that address these needs separately, this facility represents one of the first to integrate all aspects of development into a single centre.
Located in the heart of Edmonton’s Allendale community, the facility is over 3,800 square feet, and features six classrooms, a music room, cultural room, art room, lounge space, home economic/lifestyle room, and gymnasium. It also provides small and large group therapy rooms and individual breakaway spaces for one-on-one therapy.
The centre adopts innovative sensory design principles, such as the strategic use of colour, varying light spectrum, calming art scenes, and special sensory elements designed to either stimulate or calm student responses. The resulting environment provides a warm and comforting ambience that empowers mental wellness and personal discovery.
