In the early hours of February 2014, the original Hamshire-Fannett elementary school burned down. The District immediately contacted IBI Group to assist in a roadmap for a replacement learning facility.

Beaumont, TXA school's new beginning with a design that reflects the past
After the passage of a bond measure in November 2014, IBI Group teamed with District administrators and community advisors to design a modern facility that reflects the local ranching and farming history by incorporating ashlar limestone exteriors, standing seam metal roofing, and heavy timber-framed porches.
The new elementary school is a one-story, 90,000 sq. ft. building with a core capacity of 780 students, and will serve early childhood through the third grade. The school features a new cafetorium to replace the original auditorium lost in the fire. The academic areas are organized into grade-level pods, while each pod is a self-contained community built around an open flex space. The facility has the latest instructional technology such as interactive projectors, WiFi and digital security, and communications.
In addition to spatial planning and interior design, we also assisted in providing FF&E throughout the facility resulting in a 15 per cent savings for the District.
